Goat Mountain

Location : Take the skyride up to Grouse Mt. and start from there.

Goat Mountain : Distance : 11km . Elevation Gain : 250m . Total Elevation : 1400m.
Time : 4 1/2 hours .
Save yourself some time by taking the skyride up Grouse Mt. The Grouse Grind is by far over-rated . Once off the skyride head for the peak chair . the trail heads off to the left of the peak . A wide road will take you around the peak and the trail ( which is marked )begins on your left . The trail snakes up through the trees and in a few places can be a bit muddy . The climb is fairly open providing you with good views of the mountains to the east . In about 20 minutes you should be at the base of little Goat . From this vantage point you can see Goat Mountain , Goat Ridge , and Coliseum Mt. in behind . Around 30 minutes later you will come to a braided wire rope to help you up a steep part of the trail , keep tp your right and keep an eye on the trail markers . the day I went there was a fair amount of snow on the ground and the markers were hard to spot . Another 15 min and you should see a sign . At this point you can go to the end of Goat ridge for some fantastic views of the North Shore mountains , or spend the next 30-45 minutes heading to your left and up to the summit of Goat Peak . Once your up here it will be hard for you to leave . I met a group from the T.G.I.F. Singles Club up there and had to smile at all the ohhhh’s and ahhh’s
